A student from Trinity College Dublin has composed music for a mass for Pope John XXIII.

Carl Bontoft De St Quentin has written several church works but as he is a Protestant, the works too have been mainly Protestant. He wrote the piece during the summer and completed it just before the death of Pope John XXIII on 3 June 1963.

A language graduate Carl Bontoft De St Quentinand is a largely self-taught musician and composer.

Peparations have been underway to get his composition ready for performance. The mass, dedicated to the memory of Pope John XXIII, will be performed by the Trinity College Singers in the Examination Hall of the college.
