Adi Roche honoured with Women of Europe Award for her work with the children of Chernobyl.

The award is presented to Adi Roche by the Irish Council of the European Movement in recognition of her work for the children of Chornobyl. From Clonmel and living in Cork for 16 years Adi Roche is national secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

In 1990, she became the first Irish woman to be elected to the board of directors of the International Peace Bureau. Adi Roche outlines her vision for Chernobyl with the extension of financial support and humanitarian aid. She hopes that we will learn the lesson of Chernobyl so a similar disaster will never happen again.

The problem with Chernobyl goes into infinity because the half life of just one redirective element called plutonium is twenty five thousand years. You are talking about the death of a land into infinity.

Adi Roche commends the efforts of families in Ireland who have helped the people and in particular the children of Chernobyl.
